ORIGIN: While attending the 2006 SHOT Show, Strider Knives was fortunate enough to share some space with Commander Richard Marcinko, The Rogue Warrior. We had already met years before and were pleased to be asked, by the Commander and his organization, to contribute knife designs for a soon to be released video game production. It was in the Las Vegas Convention Center, at the end of the day, when we met with the Commander and two of his associates to put pencil to paper. With a few questions answered by the Commander and his team, we had a design that was very functional, tactical, and simple by design, with the overkill of construction that Team Strider has built its reputation upon. The two pieces originally discussed are the Commanders vision of the evolution of two previous Strider designs. With one fixed blade and one folding design, the fundamental concept of the two is the same. It is based on the fact that current conflict is predominantly urban. In urban conflict, edged tool applications can include much more prying and other abusive tasks than the field craft skills of the open desert or jungle environments of past conflicts. Because of this, we have engineered a very angular construction, with a calculated primary grind height providing an aggressive tip with the best of both strength and penetration. Materials are forefront. Manufacturing is based on the desired outcome, not on cycle time or the least machining operations. Heat treat is a calculated combination of the best recipe and equipment available at any price. This is quality. Commander Marcinko, The Rogue Warrior, joins forces with Team Strider Knives. Stand by for future endeavors...in the near future. SKI
